Nowadays everyone is into HDR. Some results are awesome, some a bit too much. I was chatting with a friend last night about the new phones that can process the picture using a HDR algorithm and generate a properly exposed picture without over/under-exposing parts of the picture. Imagine what such solution can do if available in DSLR cameras! Everyone will only focus on creativity and never worry about technical aspects… But then also creativity will be limited, right?
Anyway, I had a bit of time and decided to play a bit with HDR and I found this software that does all simple and easy: Photomatix PRO. There is a free version available to try, so decided to give it a try.
Ok, the original picture is this one:
I open it with any software and created another 3 versions, each version with a different exposure: -1, +1, +2. So now, we have 4 pictures with 4 different exposures: -1, 0, +1, +2.
Then we open Photomatix PRO and load the respective pictures. Basically in no time will generate several options using predefined settings. Once selected the one you like, choose Processing and let it do its thing. The last picture will come up and you can save it. And this is the result:
WOW! looks pretty impressive! Well, this is a bit surrealistic style, but is coming just from one picture.
